Yaskawa Robot – What are the Programming Methods for Yaskawa Robots

Robots are widely used in various fields such as welding, assembly, material handling, painting, and polishing. As the complexity of tasks continues to increase, there are higher demands on robot programming. The programming methods, efficiency, and quality of robot programming have become increasingly important.

Comparison between Teaching Programming and Offline Programming:
Currently, there are two main programming methods adopted by companies for robots: teaching programming and offline programming.
Teaching Programming:
Requires the actual robot system and work environment.
Programming is done while the robot is stopped.
Programs are tested on the actual system.
Programming quality depends on the experience of the programmer.
Difficult to achieve complex robot motion trajectories.
Offline Programming:
Requires a graphical model of the robot system and work environment.
Programming is done without affecting the robot’s operation.
Programs are tested through simulation.
Trajectory planning can be done using CAD methods.
Allows for programming of complex motion trajectories.
Offline programming involves recreating the entire work scene in a three-dimensional virtual environment using software. Motion control commands are generated through the software and input into the robot controller. Offline programming software can be categorized into general-purpose offline programming software and manufacturer-specific offline programming software.
