For beginners learning robot operation, TCP (Tool Center Point) is one of the most important concepts. TCP which is the exact working point of the robot tool, such as a welding torch, gripper, or laser head.
Why is TCP important?
- Ensures accurate robot movement
- Defines the correct working position of the tool
- Improves welding quality and repeatability
How to set TCP in Yaskawa robots?
- Install the tool (welding torch/gripper) on the robot
- Select TCP calibration function on the Yaskawa controller
- Teach several reference points from different directions
- The controller calculates and saves the tool coordinate data
After TCP calibration, the robot can accurately control the tool position during welding, handling, and other automation tasks.
